Asin has completed her B.A. English Literature at St. Teresa's College, Kochi. She has shifted from her home town Kochi to Chennai, whereAsin stays on Harrington Road. She is a native speaker of Malayalam, and claims to speak Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Sanskrit, English and French. Before becoming an actress, she was a part-time model and a businesswoman.

Asin is also brand ambassador for various products including Parachute, Fairever, Close-Up and Mirinda. She was also a part of Mani Ratnam's stage show, Netru, Indru, Naalai alongside many other co-stars.

Even as Trisha and Shreya, her two main competitors are singning new films, asin, who was the flavour of the season, has decided not to take up any new projects till she finishes

Dasavatharam. Sources say that this may be due to a major surprise in her looks and make-up.Though industry sources are not confirming it, others say that Asin, who is belived to be playing a double role to Kamala's 10 role , has a very good character in Dasavathram.
